Every morning, in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, Melghat's women begin a three-kilometre walk to fetch water under the harsh sun. Although the region receives heavy rainfall, weak infrastructure and failed water schemes leave tribal communities battling daily for safe, reliable drinking water. With taps running dry most of the year and scarce electricity, residents struggle for every drop.
