A new study shows anacondas have remained giant for 12 million years. Fossils from Venezuela reveal prehistoric anacondas that already measured 4-5 metres, similar to modern ones. Unlike other large reptiles, their body size barely changed, likely due to stable, warm, water-rich habitats, abundant food, and an aquatic lifestyle that protected them from land-based evolutionary pressures.
