The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has launched a drive to preserve the cultural heritage of Tirumala by focusing on traditional cuisine and eliminating junk food. Eateries in the town are now focussing on vegetarian South Indian cuisine and moving away from Indo-Chinese and fast food. They aim to bring back wholesome, culturally rooted meals and replace the spicy, oil-heavy fast foods.
