A study led by the University of Southampton has discovered that the water in Antarctica is turning saltier and sea ice is melting at a record speed. Study's lead researcher, Alessandro Silvano, stated, "Saltier surface water allows deep ocean heat to rise more easily, melting sea ice from below...less ice leads to more heat, which leads to even less ice."
