Ex-Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina accused anti-independence forces of illegally seizing power and attempting to erase the country’s secular identity. On Pohela Boishakh (Bengali New Year), she said, "Anti-liberation forces...trying to destroy Bengali culture." She added that whenever forces gained control, they attacked nation's history. Hasina fled country in 2024 after her government was toppled.
