Director Anurag Basu addressed the "similarities" between 'Saiyaara' and his upcoming untitled film with Kartik Aaryan. He called both films "very different" and denied reshooting or rewriting his film. He said, "In my film, the girl doesn't have dementia or other condition. I was aware of Alzheimer's angle in 'Saiyaara', so there's no reason to repeat it in my story."
