Apple formed a new "Answers, Knowledge, and Information" (AKI) team internally earlier this year with the goal of creating a new ChatGPT-like search experience, Bloomberg reported. This comes after tepid response to Apple Intelligence features like Genmoji and Notification Summaries and delays in Siri revamp. Notably, Apple had earlier stated that it didn't plan to build a chatbot.
