CJI BR Gavai, who was part of the Constitution bench that upheld Centre's decision to abrogate Article 370, said when the case's hearing was underway he recalled Dr BR Ambedkar's words about the constitution. "Dr Ambedkar never favoured the idea of a separate constitution for a state," Gavai said. Article 370 gave special status to the erstwhile state of J&K.
