Artificial purple blood created by researchers at Japan's Nara Medical University is compatible with all blood types. Since March, it has been administered in 100-400 ml doses to volunteers. If no side effects are found, trials will move to test efficacy and safety. The blood, which can be stored without refrigeration for two years, is targeted for use by 2030.
