A French Court of Audit preliminary report revealed that Louvre museum faces "considerable" and "persistent" delays in upgrading its security systems. It stated that one-third of rooms in Denon Wing, where Mona Lisa is located, lack surveillance cameras. Despite €323 million annual budget, auditors said there was "a lack of willingness" from the museum's management to address the deficiencies.
