Australia has agreed to pay Pacific nation of Nauru $1.62 billion over 30 years to host deported non-citizens, officials confirmed on Wednesday. A deal between both the countries was struck last week to resettle people who were denied refugee visas due to their criminal convictions. Notably, Nauru has a population of 12,000 and a land area of 21 square km.
