Bacterial infections may trigger Myocardial infarction (heart attack), according to a study published in Journal of the American Heart Association. It found that atherosclerotic plaques containing cholesterol may contain biofilm formed by bacteria. Viral infection or other triggers may activate biofilm, causing bacterial proliferation and inflammation, leading to clot formation and a heart attack.
