Over 500 years ago, human sacrifice was practiced during Durga Puja at Baikunthapur Rajbari (royal palace) in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri. However, practice has changed over time. In present day, along with ball of rice, lamb and pigeons are sacrificed at midnight only in presence of royal family members. Durga Puja in Baikunthapur palace steps into its 516th year this time.
