Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar named his India playing XI for the first Test against England, opting for Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Karun Nair. The remaining players include Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Notably, Bangar left out all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur.
