In Beed, 843 women sugarcane cutters aged 30-35 had their uterus removed before migrating for work. Every year, 1.75 lakh workers, including 78,000 women, travel to harvest cane across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka. Disturbingly, 1,523 pregnant women were found working in the fields. Health checkups revealed serious issues, prompting a state-level meeting to address the health crisis.
