Veteran Bengali actress Basanti Chatterjee passed away at age 88 on Tuesday (August 12) after long battle with cancer. Chatterjee spent the last few months in the hospital before being discharged and being advised to be kept under supervision of nurses at home, said a spokesperson to PTI. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also paid tribute to the actress.
