Around 55,000 students in Bihar have defaulted on education loans under the Bihar Student Credit Card scheme with most absconders from Patna and Samastipur. Out of 60,722 students reviewed, only 5,737 responded by affidavit or payment. Notices were sent to 11,850 and legal action is underway. Gaya and Darbhanga saw the highest repayments through affidavits or installments.
