Bihar's Mahadalit village has banned 'mrityubhoj' (post-death feast) to avoid economic stress on poor families, with ₹5,100 fine for violations. Villagers got the idea to take the decision after one of them chose not to hold a funeral feast following his mother's death, a first for the village. "This will spare future generations from unnecessary financial burden," a villager said.
