The Rajya Sabha on Thursday passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 to ban real money online games. The legislation was proposed with the aim of preventing the "harms of (gambling) addiction, financial loss and even extreme consequences such as suicides associated with online money gaming", government said. It was passed by the Lok Sabha yesterday.
