Researchers have developed new materials for wetsuits that resist shark bites, potentially lowering injury risks for divers and surfers. These wetsuits made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene consisting of strong and light fibres typically used in sailing rope. While they cannot prevent internal or crushing injuries, scientists say they could become an important part of safety toolkit.
