Ministry of Railways has said that while linen in AC trains is washed after each use, woollen blankets are washed at least once a month, "preferably twice...a month, subject to available capacity and logistics arrangements", according to an RTI. On the question about charges for the linen and blankets, Railways replied, "It's all part of the train fare package."
