Congress leader Karti Chidambaram said interstate arrests for social media posts, unless those posts could lead to a law and order situation, are a blatant misuse of police powers. He was commenting on the arrest of law student Sharmishta Panoli by West Bengal Police for allegedly insulting Islam. She was sent to judicial custody till June 13.
