A team led by researchers from Weizmann Institute of Science developed a blood test that can detect individual's risk of developing leukaemia. They found that rare stem cells carry crucial information about early signs of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), which can lead to leukaemia. They used single-cell genetic sequencing to analyse stem cells in the blood for the disease's warning signs.
