Indian-origin doctor Bobby Mukkamala has been sworn in as 180th president of American Medical Association, becoming the first physician of Indian descent to lead the body. Mukkamala, an otolaryngologist, took the oath on Tuesday. Notably, he's a past recipient of AMA Foundation's 'Excellence in Medicine' Leadership Award and was elected to AMA Council on Science and Public Health in 2009.
