Bombay Lawyers Association has written to CJI BR Gavai seeking sanction to initiate criminal prosecution of the 'cash at home' accused Justice Yashwant Varma. The lawyers' body referred to the SC's 1991 ruling which held that High Court and Supreme Court judges can be prosecuted for offences such as possession of disproportionate assets under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
