Brazil has abandoned its plan to procure India’s Akash missiles in favour of Italy’s Enhanced Modular Air Defense Solutions (EMADS). According to sources, Brazil dropped the Akash system, citing outdated technology and limited high-altitude/long-range performance. In contrast, EMADS—field-proven since 2018 in NATO armies—is better suited to counter modern aerial threats.
