The BSF, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat, is training and deploying Indian dog breeds like Rampur and Mudhol Hounds along India's borders. So far, 150 dogs have been trained, with around 700 deployed. Riya, a BSF-bred dog, won the 2024 Best Tracker Dog award, proving Indian breeds are agile, resilient, cost-effective, and well-suited for security and rescue tasks.
