Burkina Faso's parliament has passed a law banning homosexuality with offenders facing fines or up to five years in prison. Although the law was approved by the military government for over a year, the law was unanimously approved by the parliament on September 1. Justice Minister Edasso Rodrigue Bayala described homosexual acts as "bizarre behaviour."
