Calcutta High Court on Wednesday directed the Centre to resume implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in West Bengal from August 1. The order came after the Centre suspended funding in March 2022, citing irregularities. The state had received ₹7,507.80 crore under MGNREGA in 2021-22 but received no funds in the following three fiscal years.
