Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said his government approved "special scheme for grant of arms licences to indigenous Indian citizens in vulnerable areas of Assam". Arms can be issued to indigenous people where their population is in minority, he added. "In light of the incidents in Bangladesh, they can be victims of an attack from side of Bangladesh," Sarma said.
