After scoring 104, Root needs 71 more runs to move up from fifth and past Rahul Dravid (13,288) and Jacques Kallis (13,289), into the medal positions. Then he will have only Ricky Ponting (13,378) and Sachin Tendulkar (15,921) ahead of him.
