Canada-based Lithium Americas' shares nearly doubled in value in just one day to $6 as its market capitalisation reached close to $1.5 billion. The shares jumped on reports that the White House is seeking to buy an equity stake in the company as it renegotiates terms of a $2.2-billion US government loan. US had recently acquired stake in MP Materials.
