BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, "In the press release...it was clearly stated that along with the census, for the first time...social, economic survey, and caste census will also be done." He added, "Our objective behind it is the identification of all castes." His clarification came after Opposition alleged the Centre’s 2027 census gazette notification hadn’t mentioned the caste census.
