The Centre has approved a ₹6,957 crore project to widen the 85.6-km Kalibor–Numaligarh stretch of NH-715 into a four-lane highway. It includes a 34.5-km elevated corridor through Kaziranga to ensure safe wildlife movement. Officials said the project will boost connectivity, tourism and trade in Assam while reducing animal roadkills during floods.
