The Indian government, under its PM E-Drive programme, has issued guidelines to set up 72,300 public EV charging stations nationwide. Subsidies will cover key costs like full funding for stations at government buildings and 70-80% for equipment and infrastructure at public and transport hubs. Priority locations include metros, highways and smart cities. BHEL will implement the scheme.
