Chapters on three Indian military officers, Sam Manekshaw, Mohammad Usman, and Somnath Sharma, have been added to Class VII and VIII NCERT books, the central government announced. India's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw (Sam Bahadur) fought five wars, including the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. Brigadier Mohammad Usman and Major Somnath Sharma played key roles in the 1947-48 Indo-Pak war.
