The start of the Chennai Grand Masters 2025 was delayed by a day after a fire broke out at the tournament venue, Hyatt Regency, late Tuesday night. Chess players will return to the venue on Wednesday, and the tournament will officially begin on Thursday, August 7. The 20-player event will continue without the scheduled rest day on August 11.
