Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut criticised the meat ban on Independence Day in certain regions of Maharashtra, saying, "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj didn't go to war after eating dal-chawal (dal-rice)" and instead consumed meat. "Even our soldiers at the border cannot fight wars on shrikhand and puri," he added. Notably, Kalyan-Dombivli, Malegaon, Nagpur and other regions had banned meat's sale.
