A recent dispatch from China noted that Beijing has conveyed to Pakistan that its HQ-9B and HQ-16 air defence systems were not meant to intercept upgraded missiles such as India's BrahMos. This was specified only after Pakistan complained that it was not able to intercept BrahMos missiles during recent exercises. This became clear in online discussions in China.
