China will impose an additional port fee on ships owned or operated by US firms and individuals, starting on October 14. The move is in retaliation for the US' decision to charge extra fees from Chinese ships. Chinese shipyards built over 1,000 commercial vessels last year, while the US constructed fewer than 10, as per analysts.
