Iran has reportedly acquired Chinese-made HQ-9B long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) batteries through a barter deal involving oil, effectively bypassing US sanctions. Meanwhile, Egypt has also confirmed its procurement of the HQ-9B air defence system. By supplying HQ-9B SAMs to both Iran and Egypt, China strengthens its strategic footprint in the Middle East.
