A Chinese woman, Alice Guo, who illegally rose to power by posing as a Filipina to become mayor of Bamban, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Philippine court. She and three others received life sentences and a fine of 2 million pesos ($33,832) for running a large trafficking and scam operation where hundreds were forced into online fraud under threat of torture.
