Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Aswini Kumar Panda, a civil service topper posted in Bamra as tahsildar, for accepting a ₹15,000 bribe. Panda had demanded the amount for converting agricultural land into homestead land, and threatened not to allow the conversion otherwise. The complainant alerted Vigilance, which laid a trap and caught Panda red-handed while accepting the bribe.
