PIB has issued a warning saying that a fake report claiming that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked banks to stop disbursing ₹500 notes from ATMs by September 2025 is surfacing on WhatsApp. In a post on X, PIB Fact Check said, "No such instruction has been issued by RBI. ₹500 notes will continue to be legal tender."
