The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has launched an inquiry into the 2023 assault of Youth Congress worker VS Sujith at the Kunnamkulam police station, after CCTV footage surfaced. Sujith claimed he was taken into custody after he questioned police who allegedly threatened his friends. Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan called the incident "a blot on the conscience of Kerala".
