Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) have signed a ₹21,000 cr Joint Venture Agreement to set up a 1,600 MW coal-fired thermal power plant at Chandrapura, Jharkhand. The project will have two 800 MW ultra-supercritical units with 50:50 equity, targeting commercial operations by FY 2031–32 using coal from CIL’s central coalfields.
