The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) has rejected Congress' plea challenging the ₹199.5 crore tax demand for the year FY 2017-18. Congress had claimed that the amount came from donations and should be exempt from tax. The tribunal, however, said the party's returns weren't filed within the due date, which disqualifies them from the exemption.
