While talking about GST restructuring, PM Narendra Modi took a dig at previous Congress governments, saying that there were high taxes on various daily-use products. He said there was 27% tax on toothpaste, soap, hair oil, etc, adding, "The condition was that the Congress people used to take 21% tax on children's toffees." GST Council has approved rationalised two-slab structure.
