Ahmedabad court has allowed withdrawal of 29-year-old criminal case against ex-Union minister Amritlal Patel over 1996 'dhoti pulling' incident, in which then-Gujarat BJP minister Atmaram Patel's dhoti was pulled. The judge said it was an internal BJP conflict and that the withdrawal was in public interest. Congress criticised the BJP, calling the incident a sign of disrespect for senior leaders.
