South Korea's Supreme Court has cleared Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong of fraud charges related to the 2015 $8-billion merger deal between the firm's two subsidiaries. Jae-yong had been accused of using stock and accounting fraud to try to gain control of the firm. He was arrested in 2017 on charges of bribery to win the government's support for the merger.
